  • Ink´n´Paint and Motionblur

For a current Project i´d like to use the ink´n´paint material wich basically works fine, except for motionblur. The paint-part works fine with Motionblur, but as soon as i try to turn on the inklines the whole object is rendered in fully opaque pink. Do we have any chance for a quick fix ?

Well for many reasons. This is not the default toon-style project. i recently did a similar project and did it with vray-toon as Ink´n´Paint didnt work. And it was pretty frustrating hehehe. Some of the main drawbacks were not beeing able to use any kind of object to block out other objects. because ALL objects are always toonshaded. So for example it i´d use a plane to block out other objects in a moving camera i´d get the rectangle of the plane wich looks even worse. So i had to create insanly high planes so the top and bottom arent visible in any case. But there were case i had to change the storyboard in order to get it to work at all. Wich didnt make the client really happy :P

Unfortunately, Ink'n'paint cannot be made to work properly with the 3d motion blur. One option would be to use 2d motion blur instead.

Also, in recent builds, VRayToon can be made to draw lines only around certain objects - if you are interested in that option, you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com

        Best regards,

          That's what compositing is for

i had loads and loads of layers...but how should that be solved in compositing ???

take a look at the first movie in the url i posted...the cam is moving thru a street that has to match a photo. Now in order not to be able to see the crossing streets i had to create planed out of splines that match the silhouette of the buildings. now in front are several smaller objects that should go down to the street but NOT create a vertical line on the bottom...without blocking objects the only option in post would be painting them out by hand....considering the complexity of the shots this was not an option at all :/

couldnt you create a black and white mask from those plans your using to block things out with?

the problem is that initially i didnt even want to create those planes...as it was a shitload of work hehehe....we did a lot in post anyways, and i rendered a quadrillion of layers, but the scene could have been a LOT smaller and easier to work with/tweak with per object-settings (=vlado you got mail *g*)
